I can't figure out why RDP is working but FTP is not.
I copied the inbound rules in the security group for the old IP range and just changed the IP address to the new range. The Security Group is set to allow ports 20-0-51000 (FileZilla Server on the VM has that range set for passive FTP) on the IP block Comcast gave us.įilezilla client keeps timing out after 20 seconds of inactivity saying "Could not connect to server"Ĭommand line FTP in my Windows workstation also times out without ever asking for a user name/password The Windows firewall in that VM has FTP traffic enabled with no scope restrictions. I can successfully RDP into the virutal Windows machine in EC2, but my FileZilla for uploading files to the website that runs on that server can't connect. I updated the security groups to allow access on the correct ports, then disconnected the AT&T link from our firewall/router again. One of the affected services was some virtual servers on AWS EC2. Most of this had to do with IP filters on external services that were configured to only allow certain access (like RDP) from our office's external IP address range.
We did multiple tests where we unplugged the AT&T feed from our router for a while to see what didn't work, then plugged it back in to get access to the failed service and remediate. We recently switched from AT&T fiber to Comcast Business fiber.
